TUPELO - The Magical Music Tour will make only one stop: Dixieland.
On Saturday, Park Heights in downtown Tupelo will open for a jazz brunch, and you're invited.
Wick Sparks will be there, along with his clarinet. Dan Williams will bring his trombone, Andrew Fox will handle the piano duties and Larry Tyler will strum, pluck and otherwise play the guitar.
"We don't plan any music. We just play," Williams said. "That's the way jazz is."
Sparks promised a relaxing, enjoyable day of music.
"We're not loud and raucous," he said. "We won't blow their toupees off."
While the band plays, folks may want to hit the dance floor to work off their brunch. Greg Huerkamp, executive chef, has planned Kentucky Hot Browns, Frittata with Ham, Leeks and Gruyere, Lox and Bagels, Fruit Salad, German Apple Pancakes and Potatoes O'Brien.
There are a couple of ways to take advantage of this musical event:
- A V.I.P. party begins at 11 a.m. with special appetizers and drinks. Each $100 ticket includes raffle entries for a New Orleans jazz festival package for four and a night of dinner and dancing in Tupelo.
- The Magical Music Tour will run from noon to 3 p.m. Each ticket is $25. Entry to the New Orleans raffle is $20, and the other raffle is $10.
Proceeds will help cover the cost of the two free concerts that Tupelo Symphony Orchestra presents for NeMiss children each year.
"We thought this would be something really fun," said Sally Kepple Maxcy, chairwoman for the event. "It's just a little bit different for Tupelo."
